China's "One Belt, One Road" Economic Policy

AIIA National Office Operations Manager Chris Farnham interviews Mr Dong Manyuan from the China Institute of International Studies on President Xi Jinping’s “One Belt, One Road” economic policy throughout Eurasia. They also discuss China’s cooperation with Australia and its policies to combat domestic extremist ideology. 

Mr Dong Manyuan has been associated with the China Institute of International Studies since 1987. He is a senior research fellow specialised in Middle Eastern studies and ethnic issues. From 1993 to 1997, he served as Second Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt. From 1999 to 2002, he was First Secretary and Director of the Political Affairs Office of the Chinese Embassy in Turkey. He has held the positions of Director for Developing Countries Studies, Director for EU Studies and Director for International Strategic Studies at CIIS and Editor-in-chief of CIIS’ journal, China International Studies.
