Curtis O’Toole

Curtis O’Toole is a PhD candidate with the Australian National University’s Department of Pacific Affairs and a graduate of UNSW Canberra, where his research focused on civil-military relations in South East Asia. Curtis’ current research focuses on the provision of security in Papua New Guinea with reference to the relationship between the PNGDF and RPNGC.

Benedict Moleta

Benedict Moleta is a PhD student in the Department of International Relations at the Australian National University, writing on the work of Coral Bell. His master’s thesis  (2020, University of Sydney) was on relations between the European Union and Palestine, focussing on the prospects of Hamas. Contact via ANU.

Richard Herr OAM

Richard Herr OAM is a life member of AIIA TAS and inter alia a former President of the Tasmanian Branch. He has served as a consultant on various aspects of Pacific Island regional architecture for four decades.

Anna Mahjar-Barducci

Anna Mahjar-Barducci is a Project Director at the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). She has also contributed to think tanks and academic institutions such as TRENDS (UAE). Her writing has appeared in The New York Sun (USA), Osservatore Romano (Vatican), El Mundo (Spain), Maroc Diplomatique (Morocco), and Haaretz (Israel). She is currently a columnist for the Italian daily La Ragione. Mahjar-Barducci lectured at the U.S. State Department and has been part of several U.S. State Department-sponsored events through the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). She also worked as a researcher in South Asia, Tunisia, Senegal, and Zimbabwe.

Mohd Amirul Asraf Bin Othman

Mohd Amirul Asraf Bin Othman is a Ph.D student in Political Science and International Relations at the Centre for Arab & Islamic Studies (CAIS), The Australian National University. His academic interests are diverse and encompass areas such as Middle East Security Studies, Regionalism, Terrorism, and Extremism, as well as the broader fields of Political Science and International Relations in the Middle East context. Alice Ridge

Alice Ridge is the Senior Research, Policy & Advocacy Advisor at the International Women’s Development Agency. She leads IWDA’s advocacy on feminist foreign policy, funding for women’s rights organisations and international development policy and is a founding member of the Australian Feminist Foreign Policy Coalition. Prior to IWDA, Alice worked for five years with the Australian Council for International Development. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Certificate in Gender Mainstreaming and Analysis from Flinders University.

Dr Kristy Campion

Dr Kristy Campion is Senior Lecturer and Discipline Lead of Terrorism and Security Studies at the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security, Charles Sturt University (Australia). She has published extensively on right wing extremism in western democratic contexts, with a focus on transhistorical and transnational networks, ideologies, and strategies. Her recent book, Chasing Shadows: the untold and deadly story of terrorism in Australia, is the first comprehensive work on terrorism in Australia and its international and domestic connections.

Ridvan Kilic

Ridvan Kilic holds a master’s degree in international relations from La Trobe University. His research interests include Australian and Indonesian foreign policy, the Australia-Indonesia bilateral relationship, and ASEAN regionalism. Ridvan’s work has been published in the Lowy Institute Interpreter, The ASPI Strategist, Australian Outlook, The Diplomat, Papua New Guinea Post Courier, Indonesia at Melbourne, the East Asia Forum, South Asian Voices, 9DashLine and the ISEAS Yusof Ishak Institute Library.

Dr Muhammad Zulfikar Rakhmat

Dr Muhammad Zulfikar Rakhmat is a researcher focusing on China-Indonesia-Middle East relations. He holds a B.A. in International Affairs from Qatar University and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Manchester.

Dr Federica Caso

Dr Federica Caso is a lecturer in International Relations at La Trobe University. Her research examines gender and race in the military, war, and peacebuilding. She is currently pursuing a research project on Indigenous military integration and reconciliation in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Her book Settler Military Politics: Militarisation and the Aesthetics of War Commemoration was published in 2024 by Edinburgh University Press.
