Dr Lesley Pruitt

Dr Lesley Pruitt is Associate Professor in the School of Social and Political Sciences and Research Affiliate of the Initiative for Peacebuilding at the University of Melbourne.

Professor Thomas Bruneau

Thomas Bruneau is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey California. He joined the Department in 1987, became Chairman in 1989, and continued in that position until 1995. He became Director of the Center for Civil Military Relations in November 2000, a position he held until December 2004.

Dr Kaling Cheung

Dr Kaling Cheung has a pHd in Urban Planning from the University of Melbourne. Her research interests include urban development, housing policy and urban geography.

Associate Professor Jennifer Day

Associate Professor Jennifer Day works on issues of forced displacement and eviction, economic development, and urbanisation across Asia and the Pacific, and she is an expert in methods ranging from econometrics to qualitative storytelling. Jennie holds a PhD in City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University.

Dr Stephen Nagy

Dr Stephen Nagy is Professor of Politics and International Studies at the International Christian University, specialising in Indo-Pacific geopolitics and great power competition. He is serving as a Visiting Fellow for the Hungarian Institute for International Affairs (HIIA) June 13th-August 30th, 2025.  Concurrently, he holds strategic appointments as Senior Fellow at the MacDonald Laurier Institute, Research Fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, and Visiting Fellow at the Japan Institute for International Affairs. From 2017-2020, he served as Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation and is currently senior fellow. He serves as the director of policy studies for the Yokosuka Council of Asia Pacific Studies (YCAPS), spearheading their Indo-Pacific Policy Dialogue series. 

Professor James Chin

Professor James Chin is professor of Asian Studies at the University of Tasmania and adjunct Professor, Monash University.

Sanchari Ghosh

Sanchari Ghosh is a PhD candidate at the Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Previously, she worked as a research assistant in a project entitled “Issues in Global South: Eastern perspectives,” funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Her research interests include India’s maritime strategy, the Indian Ocean, and the Indo-Pacific.

Dr Michael de Percy

Michael de Percy is a political scientist and political commentator at the University of Canberra. He is a graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon and a member of the Australian Nuclear Association. He was appointed to the College of Experts at the Australian Research Council in 2022.

Talal Rafi

Talal Rafi is an Economist and Director at Ernst & Young Sri Lanka. He is an expert member of the World Economic Forum and a regular columnist for the International Monetary Fund. He was a consultant to the Asian Development Bank. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Economics at the University of Colombo.

Trystanto Sanjaya

Trystanto Sanjaya is a Visiting Fellow at the Norwegian Institute for International Affairs in Oslo.
