About

The AIIA 2019 National Conference was an opportunity to know, understand, and engage more in international affairs and Australia’s foreign policy. Building on the success of previous years, the AIIA 2019 National Conference brought together some of Australia’s leading experts in international affairs to examine and discuss trending priorities in world affairs including: growing enmity between the US and China; new technologies; and the health of the planet.

Highlights

• Keynote speeches by Hon Alex Hawke MP, Senator the Hon Penny Wong, and Allan Gyngell AO FAIIA;
• Participation from more than 300 attendees, including ambassadors, diplomats, and other members of the diplomatic corps;
• One of the most successful media coverage milestones to date. 500 online news articles that mentioned the AIIA reached an accumulated audience of 377 million. National television and radio outlets also reported on the conference including; SBS News, ABC Radio National News, Sky News, Channel 9, and Channel 7;
• AIIA National Office’s overall social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn) gained more than 290 new followers from the previous month;
• A successful Masterclass program held at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade,  offering emerging professionals and students opportunities to network with highly respected experts in their field;
• Positive feedback and suggestions from conference attendees, with more than 85% of participants rating the overall quality as very good or excellent;
• Active youth engagement with over 130 students in attendance.
