An Active Program: The AIIA
The AIIA holds more than 150 events per year around the country, attracting more than 10,000 registrants. These events range from intimate discussions and workshops to large lectures, conferences, and seminars. Throughout its history, the AIIA has been involved in key debates on international relations through its publications, the Australian Journal of International Affairs, the Australia in World Affairs series, and its online publication, Australian Outlook.
Branch Events
Public events around the country are the core of the AIIA’s activities. The AIIA organises more than 150 events each year, mostly open to the public.
The AIIA National Conference
The AIIA organises the premier event on Australian foreign policy each year, when scholars and practitioners meet in Canberra to discuss Australia’s place in the world.
Study Tours
The National Office organises free international study tours on a regular basis for professionals who meet the application criteria. Some branches organise study tours open to the public.
Research Events
The AIIA organises research events around particular topics which can be private or open to the public.
Track-Two Diplomacy
The AIIA creates opportunities for Australian experts and practitioners of foreign affairs to discuss pressing issues with their overseas counterparts to develop policy solutions for today’s complex world. It also sends key representatives to speak at major international dialogues.
Publications
The AIIA publishes the Australian Journal of International Affairs, the premier Australian academic outlet in its field. It also publishes books, special reports, and shorter online analysis pieces on Australian Outlook.
