Anne-Marie Balbi is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Social Sciences and Security Studies at Curtin University (Perth, Australia). Her research explores soft counter-terrorism strategies and she teaches in the fields of International Relations and Terrorism studies. She was one of the original researchers in the COVER (Countering online Violent Extremism Research) program while at Curtin. She was also inducted as an Emerging Scholar by the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA) in 2012 for a publication based on her Master’s thesis, and is currently a Committee member of the AIIA WA chapter. Originally from Sweden she has a great interest for European politics and international affairs in general.

Anne-Marie holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Political Science) from Stockholm University and a Master of International Relations from Curtin University. She has been published in the Lowy Interpreter, Australian Institute of International Affairs, Journal of Policing, Intelligence and Counter-terrorism, and New Matilda, among others.
