Leonard Blazeby

Leonard Blazeby worked as a barrister and solicitor in South Australia and Victoria and volunteered with the Australian Red Cross for more than a decade before joining the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 2000. He is President of the Australian Institute of International Affairs South Australia.

He worked for the ICRC for over 20 years, with several postings across Africa, as senior legal adviser in the ICRC’s Geneva headquarters, and as Head of Mission to Australia. His most recent posting was as Deputy Head of Delegation in Nigeria.

He has now retired from the ICRC and works for the South Australian Government as a policy specialist.

Leonard is a member of the Divisional Council and International Law Committee of the Australian Red Cross South Australia Division, a sessional teacher in law at the University of Adelaide, and a committee member for the John Bray Alumni legal Network.
