Suzanne Varrall is completing a PhD at UNSW in international law with a focus on accountability for international weapons transfers. She is also an Associate at the Australian Human Rights Institute. Her research areas include international humanitarian law, international criminal law, arms control, and business and human rights. Suzanne is a lawyer by training and a former policy adviser for the Commonwealth Government, where she worked mainly on defence and foreign affairs issues including in the National Security and International Policy Division of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and as Associate Director of the Asia Pacific Centre for Military Law, within the Department of Defence.
