About Us
The Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA) is Australia’s longest-existing private research institute on politics and international relations. Its mission is to help Australians know, understand, and engage more in international affairs. The institute is apolitical.
The Northern Territory is the youngest of the AIIA Branch’s and was incorporated in October 2023.
Given the NT’s important strategic geographical location in the region , the NT branch aims to increase community awareness of international affairs through its events and presence in the territory.
We have recently entered into an agreement with Charles Darwin University to co-host a number of events at their new Danala Campus in Darwin City . AIIA NT also remains engaged with the foreign consulates and community organisations that represent the Territory’s vibrant international interests here in Darwin.
The Patron of AIIA Northern Territory is His Honour Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM , Administrator of the Northern Territory.
If you are considering membership we have different categories and all members get online access to the Australian Journal of International Affairs, the key publication of AIIA, members receive invitations to free Territory events and webinars as well as invitations to events hosted by our other branches (Some of which attract a small fee), and discounted rates to the AIIA National Conference.
