AIIA Qld International Scholarship

Amanda Sousa E Silva is the winner of the AIIA Qld International Award for 2019. Amanda’s academic excellence and current work with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in New York City exemplifies the qualities that AIIA Qld promotes. She is completing her Master’s degree in International Relations as well as her internship.

About the Award

The Australian Institute of International Affairs, Queensland, wishes to encourage and support Australian students at Queensland Universities to undertake study overseas. This scholarship is established in line with the organisation’s mission of promoting understanding and interest in international affairs.

AIIA Queensland will provide this $2500 scholarship annually to support approved educational activity.

The scholarship is advertised on the AIIA website and through Queensland universities each year. We will advise when applications open for the scholarship in 2020.

Selection Panel

A selection panel consisting of an academic representative from three Queensland based universities will review all applications and make a recommendation to the Council of AIIA Queensland. The successful applicants will be notified as soon as the Council has accepted the recommendations.

The successful applicant must provide evidence of the travel planned before the scholarship is paid, and will provide a report to the AIIA Queensland Council after the educational experience has been completed and the student has returned to Queensland. The successful students may also be invited to give a short talk on their experience at an AIIA meeting of members.
