Different Visions of the Indo-Pacific

Published 14 Jan 2014

The recent blog post, ‘Different visions of the Indo-Pacific: China, India, the US and Australia’ by AIIA National Director Melissa Conley Tyler, argues that Australia, China, India and the United States each have different visions of the ‘Indo-Pacific’ and their role in it. She provides an overview of how each of the four countries relates to the Indo-Pacific and perceives other countries’ actions in that region. She concludes by arguing that it is important to understand the various mental maps through which different countries view the Indo-Pacific so as to better manage tensions in the region.
