This episode of AIIA VIC’s Dyason House podcast discusses humanitarian aid in war zones and careers in the aid industry.

On the individual level, working in war zones helps build character and understanding across cultures. But not everyone can deal with the hardships and risks that come with this. On the broader level, there is something fundamentally flawed in the western humanitarian aid system, which tends to ignore the role of religion in the way aid is delivered in countries.

Dr Denis Dragovic is a former council member of AIIA VIC and honorary senior fellow at the University of Melbourne.
