Congratulations to the 2024 AIIA Fellows

The Australian Institute of International Affairs is pleased to announce the selection of its fellows for 2024. The AIIA bestows the title of fellow each year to those with a connection to Australia who have made a significant contribution to international affairs. This year’s fellows are
- Professor John Blaxland, for contributions to knowledge on intelligence and national security
- Melanie Brock AM, for contributions to the Australia-Japan relationship
- Penny Burtt, for contributions to business and promotion of knowledge on Asia in Australia
- Professor James Curran, for contributions to journalism
- Professor Bina D’Costa, for contributions to the United Nations and to knowledge of international relations
- Professor Susan Harris Rimmer, for contributions to women’s rights and knowledge of international law
- Emeritus Professor Purnendra Jain, for contributions to knowledge on Asia, particularly Japan
- Professor Bec Strating, for contributions to knowledge on maritime security and for promotion of knowledge on Asia in Australia
Fellows nominations may be made by any fellow or member of the AIIA. Nominations for the 2025 round are open as of this announcement and will close in September or October 2025. Members and fellows can submit a nomination HERE.
