Call for Applications for Russell Trood Internship

Published 19 Jun 2018

The AIIA is seeking applications for the AIIA Russell Trood Internship with AIIA National Office in Canberra.

The internship includes a $1000 honorarium to reimburse costs associated with the voluntary position and is intended for a high-achieving student or recent graduate to gain valuable experience editing the AIIA’s popular international affairs blog, Australian Outlook.

The challenging role entails commissioning and editing material for the blog under the guidance of AIIA National Executive Director Melissa Conley Tyler, and involves correspondence with leading international affairs analysts and practitioners both in Australia and internationally.

It has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the late President of AIIA Qld and Fellow of the Australian Institute of International Affairs, Professor Russell Trood FAIIA. A former senator for Queensland and director of the Griffith Asia Institute among other roles, Professor Trood died in January 2017 and is remembered by many as a great contributor to the national discourse on foreign policy and national security.

For more information about AIIA internships, see here. Applications for the Russell Trood Internship can be made here by choosing the ‘Australian Outlook Editor’ role and following the instructions.

The current Australian Outlook Editor Tommy Chai is available to answer questions by email at australianoutlook@internationalaffairs.org.au.
