Australia China Business Council Study Tour

AIIA National Executive Director Melissa Conley Tyler participated in an Australia China Business Council Think Tank Study Tour to Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing from 30 July to 3 August.
The study tour was led by former Victorian Premier and ACBC National President the Hon John Brumby and included representatives from the Institute of Public Affairs, The McKell Institute and Menzies Research Centre.
The delegation:
  • met with a range of officials, including Ambassador Jan Adams and embassy officials; Guangzhou Consul-General Jason Roberts; Austrade General Manager China Michael Wadley; and NSW Trade Commissioner Murray Davis.
  • met with Australians in the business sector including Australian Chamber of Commerce Shanghai CEO Jack Brady and Beijing General Manager Nick Coyle; ANZ China CEO Huang Xiaoguang and China Market Economist David Qu; Hayes’ Simon Lance; and Tiang & Co’s Martyn Huckerby.
  • visited leading Chinese businesses Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent (We Chat), BYD and DJI.
