Philippines Study Tour

AIIA NSW is calling for expressions of interest from members of all AIIA branches to join an 11-day study tour of the Philippines in the second half of October, 2019.

The tour is being arranged and will be led by Richard Broinowski, immediate past president of AIIA NSW. Richard served as Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission in Manila from 1975 to 1977.

The plan is to spend the first three or four days in Manila, making calls and doing some sight-seeing. The Australian Ambassador in Manila, Steve Robinson, and his staff have kindly agreed to help with appointments, as well as giving the group a reception at the Residence.

Apart from one or two day trips out of Manila to be fitted around appointments, the rest of the tour will be to Cebu and Davao, President Duterte’s home-town in Zamboanga.

Richard is consulting with the experienced Anywhere Travel Group in Randwick, who have come up with two quotes for the eleven-day tour. These do not include air fares to and from the Philippines, but do cover all internal road and air travel from Manila to Cebu to Davao and return to Manila, as well as hotels plus all breakfasts and some other meals.

Twin share travel will be approximately A$3,100 per person, and for those who prefer single room accommodation, A$4,200. Prices will be finalised as the program becomes clearer, but are not expected to vary greatly from the above.

It would be appreciated if you could send expressions of interest by Monday 18 March. If you would like to know more, Richard can be contacted on 0432 175 594 or rbroinow@bigpond.net.au
