Ai Tashiro is an associate professor at the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University. She is a 2023-2024 cohort member of the AIIA fellow program of the Indo-Pacific Cooperation Network (AIIA-IPCN) in the field of disaster resilience. She is a disaster epidemiologist and health geographer. Her research mainly focuses on the impact of nature-based solutions on residents’ health and well-being in regions vulnerable to climate change and natural disasters. She addresses community development by using the natural environment (e.g., blue-green spaces) and local natural resources in these areas. She earned her master’s degree in international studies from the University of Tokyo and her PhD in environmental studies from Tohoku University. She is a survivor of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.
