ACT Branch Internship Program 2014

Duty Statement and Selection Criteria

The ACT Branch of the Australian Institute of International Affairs is currently seeking two interns to work on the Branch’s public relations projects from April to November 2014. If your application is successful you will be working with AIIA ACT Branch Council members and Administrative Assistant on a voluntary basis.

Publicity and Website Support

Successful applicants will support the Council in our publicity, website design, and social media to facilitate events with major players in international relations and diplomacy. You may work up to approximately 10 to 12 hours per week on the following tasks:

  • Content management of the ACT Branch website.
  • Compiling newsletters.
  • Design and construction of Branch event flyers.
  • Promotion of Branch events and engagement with social media.
  • Support at Branch events and Council meetings.
  • Occasional support for Branch Administrative Assistant & Events Coordinators.

Selection Criteria

  • An interest in international affairs.
  • An understanding of the work and goals of the Institute.
  • Ability to engage sensitively and effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Developed word processing, publishing and design skills.
  • Experience and/or training in website management.
  • Experience and/or training in publicity or events management.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
