The Australian Institute of International Affairs is pleased to announce Craig Beyerinck, Rachelle Saad and Gale Wilkinson as the new editors for the Emerging Scholars Series.

As part of the AIIA’s commitment to actively engage youth in international affairs, the AIIA host a number of interns in its National Office, AIIA NSW, AIIA VIC and ACT, Queensland and South Australian Branches. Anyone who interns at an AIIA branch or National Office is eligible to submit a paper for publication in Emerging Scholars that is then subject to academic review.

Craig Beyerinck has received a Master of Arts (Honours) in International Relations from the University of St Andrews in Scotland and is presently pursuing a Masters in Development Affairs from the Graduate Institute Geneva. He is currently working for UNAIDS in Geneva and has previously worked at the Australian Institute of International Affairs in Australia, UNAIDS in Nepal, Local Interventions Group in Nepal, Inís Communication and the Attorney General’s Office in the Republic of Palau. Craig is specifically interested in the topics of global health and human rights.

Rachelle Saad is a former intern at the AIIA National Office and holds a Master of International Security from the University of Sydney. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (History and French Studies). Rachelle is currently working at the United Nations Headquarters in New York as a Publications and Editorial Intern (Yearbook Unit, United Nations Department of Public Information). Rachelle hopes to pursue further career opportunities within the United Nations and continue her research in the field of international peace and security.

Gale Wilkinson graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics, International Relations and Development Studies. She interned at AIIA National Office in 2011 before moving to the United Kingdom to complete her Masters Degree. Gale graduated in September 2014 and now holds an LLM Master of International Law. Her research interests focus on the implementation of human rights and their relationship with the development sphere. Gale is currently living and working in London and is aiming to pursue a career in an international organisation with a specific focus on human rights.

As past AIIA interns the three new editors will be able to work closely with the young authors and provide support throughout the publishing process.
