Korea Foundation - Funding and Fellowships

The Korea Foundation is offering some great research and employment opportunities. See below for links, position descriptions and application closing dates.

 

Korean Language Training Fellowship

This fellowship is awarded to researchers and graduate students studying Korean Studies subjects and other persons professionally engaged in Korea-related activities who wish to have an opportunity to take a language immersion program and learn Korean in a systematic manner at a university in Korea. The grant period runs 6 months. Applications close 31 July 2017 for fellowships commencing in 2018.

 

Graduate Studies Fellowship

This fellowship program is aimed at fostering new generations of scholars who will shape the future of Korean Studies in countries around the world. It is awarded to foreign students who are currently enrolled on an MA or PhD program in Korean Studies. The application deadline for Australian-based applicants is late October. Postdoctoral Fellowship

This fellowship is awarded to international scholars with a recent PhD on a Korea-related topic to provide financial assistance to them in their further research. The grant period runs 12 months (one academic year based on the respective institution’s academic calendar) and applications close 15 October for applicants from Oceania.

 

Field Research Fellowship

This fellowship program is designed to encourage Korean Studies research by doctorate-level students and prominent scholars by sponsorship them to visit to Korea so they can conduct onsite field research, gather pertinent data, access resource materials, and develop personal relations with Korean specialists. The application period runs from July 1 – August 31 2017 for a 2018 placement.

 

Employing Teaching Staff

Financial support is provided under this program to overseas universities hiring new faculty members with the goal of expanding courses in Korean studies programs and Korean language programs.

 

Policy-Oriented Research Grant Program

This program provides grant support for research and training programs on topics related to Korea, East Asia and other global issues. The program seeks to encourage research projects that provide in-depth analyses and policy recommendations on political, social and economic issues revolving around East Asia including Korea.
