The Evolution of Boko Haram

Published 14 Apr 2015

A Presentation by Wisdom Iyekekpolo

Boko Haram has become one of the most notorious terror groups in the world. Its international dimension was enhanced by its suicide bombing of the United Nations office in Abuja and the subsequent kidnapping of over 200 school girls. We shall review its evolution and its rhetorical construction; the kidnap of the school girls and the #BringBackOurGirls hash-tag diplomacy; the role of local and international political leaders and the present situation in Nigeria

Wisdom Iyekekpolo is a PhD candidate at University of Queensland. His current research is The Responsibility to Protect and its mechanism for the prevention of Mass Atrocity: The case of Boko Haram in Nigeria
