AIIA QLD in collaboration with MeWise presents Mediation Skills Workshop

Friday 4th December 2015 12:30pm AEST

Learn the ins and outs of mediation skills presented by Professor Melinda Edwards, Managing Director MeWise. Melinda was a litigator, Professor of Law, and Assistant Dean at QUT before starting her own International Dispute Resolution Consultancy, MeWise Pty Ltd in 2013. She has been nationally recognised for her teaching excellence and has researched and taught mediation for over 20 years, bringing a strong cross-cultural perspective to her courses as a result of her work with AusAID, Bridges Across Borders South East Asia (BABSEACLE) in Thailand, and various consultancy projects in the Kingdom of Bhutan. In 2013 Melinda was engaged by the government of Bhutan to create a unique model of mediation incorporating the principles of both Buddhism and Gross National Happiness.

Participants of the course will walk away knowing:

* How to facilitate better negotiation skills in those around you

* How to open up conflicts and lead people to wiser solutions

* Micro and Macro mediation skills including; active listening, identifying issues, exploring interests, option generation, reality testing, listening, reciprocal bargaining and crafting wise agreements

Every year MeWise conducts a Pro Bono World Peace Youth Project to promote awareness of alternative dispute resolution skills around the world and in 2015 has partnered with AIIA to offer this unique opportunity in Brisbane. The commercial cost of this workshop is several thousand dollars, so don’t miss this incredible opportunity to enhance both your skills and your CV.

All participants receive a certificate of completion and participant manual. Participants will only need to bring writing equipment, phone and enthusiasm. Laptops and tablets aren’t required.
