AIIA Queensland Asia Pacific Scholarship 2015 Awarded to Jordana Colvin

Published 25 Feb 2016

The Australian Institute of International Affairs Queensland has awarded the prestigious Asia Pacific Scholarship for 2015 to Griffith University student Jordana Colvin. The Asia Pacific Scholarship encourages Queensland university students to engage with the region through study abroad programs, internship placements, or field work to enhance their understanding of the Asia Pacific and improve Australia’s standing in the region.

Jordana is studying a Bachelor of Asian Studies and Diploma of Languages in Japanese. She will be using the scholarship, valued at $2000, to study at Nanzan University in Japan as a part of her university’s study abroad program. “This scholarship will provide a unique opportunity to be immersed in the Japanese academic and cultural environment and will provide me with a perspective of the Australia-Japan relationship that has been missing throughout my studies thus far,” Jordana said.

Jordana has volunteered much of her time towards youth empowerment and developing an interest in international affairs in her community. She has also been recognised for academic prowess and community engagement by her university by being awarded the 2014 Griffith Business School Academic Excellence Scholarship.

The Scholarship was officially presented on 25 February 2016 by the Patron of AIIA Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland.
