Ruth Pearce served as a career diplomat. She held senior positions with the Department of Foreign Affairs in Canberra, including as assistant secretary of the public diplomacy branch and head of the APEC taskforce during its planning phase. Ruth also served as Ambassador to Poland, Ambassador to the Philippines, Ambassador to the Russian Federation and High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands.
